Tortuguero Canals Costa Rica

(3 días, 2 noches)

Day 01 (D-A-C)Tortuguero Canals Costa Rica
Tortuguero is a large network of navigable canals located in the North Atlantic zone of the country. The park is one of the most important egg-laying sites of the green turtle in the Caribbean (July-September season).   Its natural canals are used for exploration and navigation, and are extremely abundant in flora and fauna; here you will be able to enjoy the wet forest, where you could find species such as birds, monkeys, crocodiles and turtles.

The trip will start early in the morning with a specialized guide; we will stop for breakfast. You will go through the wonderful rain forests that make the Braulio Carrillo Park so popular, only thirty minutes from San José.   We will stop on the way for a brief visit to a banana plantation packing plant (from Monday through Friday, if weather conditions are favorable). We will then board a boat specially designed for canal navigation, which will let you enjoy all the nature surrounding you. This trip to the hotel lasts approximately two hours.   Upon arrival, a delicious lunch will be waiting for you. In the afternoon, there will be a visit to the Tortuguero village and museum.
Lodging in Laguna Lodge or similar.

Day 02 (D-A-C)
During the day you will have the opportunity to explore the wonders of the Tortuguero National Park area.   You will take tours in small, roofless, though very safe, boats that will provide you with great visibility and the chance to get closer and appreciate the natural magic of the surroundings; there is a great variety of flora and fauna, since you will be navigating in smaller secondary canals, instead of the main canal. During the turtle season there is an optional night tour for watching sea turtles lay their eggs.
Lodging in Laguna Lodge or similar.

Day 03 (D-A)
After breakfast you will leave Tortuguero and will start your trip back to San José by the canals to Matina, where you will board your transportation.   During the trip back to the capital there will be a stop for lunch. Arrival in San José will be in the afternoon.
